7 Churches Turkey Tour

As Manolya Tours, we have been organizing 7 Churches Turkey Tour more than 10 years. The Seven Churches of Revelation, mentioned by Jesus to John of Patmos in Revelation 1:11, are all located in western Türkiye. On this 7 Churches Turkey Tour, we set out on a 3-day pilgrimage to visit all seven churches including Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.

Day 1: Smyrna – Pergamon

You will meet with our tour guide at Izmir Airport and drive to Smyrna. 7 Churches Turkey Tours Biblical sites as you discover the fascinating past of Izmir, known as Smyrna in Biblical times. As we continue our journey from lively Izmir to Bergama, we will stop by a local restaurant for lunch. We’ll uncover the awe-inspiring ancient city of Pergamon, one of the legendary seven churches highlighted in the New Testament’s Book of Revelation.

An intriguing aspect of this stop is the well-known presence of the Throne of Satan. Explore the breathtaking Acropolis and the fascinating Asklepion(from outside) within the borders of Pergamon. In the evening, we will spend the night in Bergama; Here you can take a pleasant walk through the traditional streets and breathe in the magic of the old Greek houses.

Day 2: Thyatira – Sardis – Philadephia – Laodicea – Hierapolis(Pamukkale)

After your breakfast in Bergama, we set out towards the city of Thyatira, which is mentioned as the ”Corrupt Church” in the Book of Revelation. Although there are not many ruins remaining from ancient Thyatira. Your journey will then take you to Sardis, once the magnificent capital of the ancient Lydian kingdom. Be prepared to step back in time when you step into this extraordinary city. Immerse yourself in the history and grandeur that once thrived here and allow yourself to truly appreciate the importance of this ancient place.

Continue your scenic journey to Alaşehir, where the extraordinary Philadelphia Church awaits you. Marvel at the ruins of this ancient church. After lunch at a local restaurant, your next stop will be Laodicea, famous for its trade in shiny black wool and eye salve. Although now a picturesque historical site, Laodicea was referred to in the Book of Revelation as the “Lukewarm Church”. The adventure continues when you arrive at the incredible ancient city of Hierapolis, known today as Pamukkale. Pamukkale is a natural wonder with fascinatingly beautiful hot springs that have flowed for thousands of years and formed magnificent glacier-like terraces. You will overnight in Pamukkale.

Seven Churches Turkey Tour

Day 3: House of Virgin Mary – Ephesus – Basilica of St. John – Kusadasi(Selcuk) – Izmir Airport

After meeting with your tour guide, get ready for an exciting 3 hours journey to west of Turkey. Your first destination is the House of Virgin Mary, where it is believed that the Virgin Mary spent her last 9 years. The house is approximately 300 meters above sea level and operates as an active chapel. Roman Catholics believe that the Virgin Mary came to Ephesus with Saint John. Although there is no information that the Virgin Mary lived here, approximately 1.5 million people visit this place every year. After a pleasant 30-minute visit to the House of Virgin Mary, get ready for an exciting journey to the Ancient City of Ephesus.

Basilica of St. John

Your journey of discovery will begin at the upper gate of Ephesus under the expert guidance of your knowledgeable tour guide. Prepare to be truly amazed by the biblical significance of Ephesus as you descend the hill and wander its historic streets for approximately 2.5 hours. Along this extraordinary route, you will encounter awe-inspiring views of iconic landmarks such as the Odeon, the Basilica, Domitian’s Square, Trajan’s Fountain, Celcus Library, Marble Street, Terrace Houses, Grand Theater and Harbor Street. Immerse yourself in Turkey’s rich cultural heritage while enjoying a traditional Turkish lunch in the tranquil surroundings of a local weaving institution.

After this delightful meal, you will have the opportunity to witness the meticulous artistry behind Turkish handicrafts and learn about the extraordinary weaving techniques used by talented local artisans. Your next destination is the Basilica of St. John, a historic site believed to be the resting place of John the Apostle. Finally, upon completing this tour you will be transferred to Izmir Airport.
